GUESS WHO'S PREGNANT?

Whew, not me!

But I had you wondering there for just a second, didn't I?

Nope, nobody in our house is pregnant, but
my good friend Amanda is having her very first baby soon! So, we threw her a party and showered her with presents for the new man in her life...
We sent out invitations..

And Evie helped me make a balloon banner for the front porch.

We broke out the china and silverware!
Thank goodness she's having a boy, because almost every dish I own is blue!

And of course, there was a cake!

And lots o' food...
Then the girls all came over!
(yes, Evie was being camera shy and clingy)

"Fifty Shades of Grey" was the diaper raffle prize...
and the winner was Andrea, Amanda's sister!
Hmm... there might be another baby in the family soon
if the book works its magic!

Baby Alex and his mom got lots of goodies...

And books too!

Then we sent the girls home with a parting gift...

Or I should say Alex sent them a parting gift.
Baby blue nail polish!
What a sweet little fella.  ;-)

The balloon banner came down,
which meant the fun was just getting started!!

And off she goes...

Just a toddler with a toothpick...

BAM BAM BAM BAM!

It's like king-sized bubble wrap!

"Popped 'em all, Momma!"

Yup, but who gets to pick 'em up?
(okay, Momma helped too.)

FIRST THINGS FIRST

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream---and not make dreams your master;
If you can think---and not make thoughts your aim,
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build'em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings,
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings---nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And---which is more---you'll be a Man, my son!

-Rudyard Kipling

And until that day comes, your parents do solemnly swear that
we'll continue attempting to teach you to crawl.
Although you have no interest in conquering this manly feat.
None. Whatsoever.

UPDATE: Hooray for USA!

Wow! We made front page news!

That's Hannah on the left, Caleb in the boat (tossing the box of tea overboard!),
Dadda in the red shirt helping push the boat, and Gran-Dandy and Evie in cowboy hats!

(and yes, I'm in the back wearing a blue shirt, pushing Abbott in the stroller, while strategically hiding behind Dadda!)

HOORAY FOR USA!

I'm sure you'll be very happy to know that the Float #23, entitled the "Original Tea Party Story" and sponsored by the Meriwether Historical Society, won THIRD prize in the Sweet Land O' Liberty Parade today.

It 'twas a taxing event!

Thanks to some ingenuity and mad engineering skills on the
part of Gabba Gabba and GrandDandy,
this ordinary canoe turned into a sassy little replica
of the 1773 mini-rebellion. Take that, Parliament!

Uncle B got to pull the boat for the whole parade route.
He looks so pleased to be assigned this task, doesn't he?
(He had a serious upper body work out today!
Be sure to tell him his arms look HUGE the next time you see him!)

Our Colonists-masquerading-as-Indians happened to also
have a collapsible light saber in their arsenal.
I think we intimidated the judges a bit.
Eh, maybe.

TEA PARTY TIME!
Can you believe we were initially told by a (possibly well meaning) parade official that our float wouldn't be allowed in the parade because we weren't allowed to make political statements? Umm... Seriously?!
Public concern about being "P.C." has gotten WAY out of control for my tastes!  O
ur parade float was a handful of 2-to-12 year olds  trying to recreate a historical event!
And isn't INDEPENDENCE DAY a massive political statement in and of itself?!
Can I get an AMEN on that one?!
Here's a political statement for ya! HA!
Either way, I hope you all had a wonderful Independence Day.
